This week I had the opportunity to go to a sneak preview of a new development called 181 Fremont, which will be one of San Francisco’s premiere luxury developments. (Full Disclosure: The Mark Company which is handling the sales for this building is now affiliated with Pacific Union.) Since by this time, I have seen a number of the new developments south of Market Street, I was not expecting to see such a beautifully designed building inside and out, different from some of the lackluster buildings with unimaginative interior design that have gone up in parts of SOMA. This one is different. It begins with an array of high quality materials used in the finishes. These materials include Italian Calcutta Carrara marble from Italy, Paldao wood from New Guinea and polished brass handles custom-forged by Parisian artisans.
The building is located across from the future Transbay Transit Center which when finished will encompass a beautiful 5.4 acre park with a variety of activities. The residences will have magnificent views from every room. There will be only 55 residences which will start on the 53rd floor. The 52nd floor will be a suite of top-notch amenities featuring a wrap-around observation terrace, two cocktail lounges, a library, a catering kitchen and more. What will all of this cost? Pricing released thus far starts with a 2 bedroom 1260 square foot residence for $3,405,000 to a two bedroom with den residence that is 3,368 square feet for $14,500,000. I can dream, can’t I?
